Phi Theta Kappa's nonprofit mission is to recognize and promote student academic achievement. About Phi Theta Kappa:

PTK is an Honor Society. It is not a Fraternity and it is not a Sorority.
Phi Theta Kappa is the only officially recognized international honor society for two-year colleges in the United States and abroad. PTK inspires high achieving students to expand their educational experience beyond the classroom. Its hallmarks of scholarship, leadership, service and fellowship offer a chance to achieve personal goals and give back to the community.

Joining PTK:

You will be sent an invitation when:
  1. You have completed 12 credit hours.
    and
  2. You have a 3.5+ GPA.
Once you receive an invitation in your student email (in early October for Fall semester or late February for Spring semester), you need to:
  • Submit the one-time $90 life-time membership dues. (There is a scholarship available, view "What is the PTK Application Scholarship?".)
Phi Theta Kappa has no recurring fees or annual dues; simply pay the one-time membership fee, and you can access your PTK benefits for life.
  • One-Time Membership Fee: $90.
  • One-Time Membership Fee (with scholarship): $25.
  • Provisional Membership Fee (only for provisional members (see FAQ)): $25.

We understand college life can be difficult. There is a scholarship available to reduce the $90 life-time membership dues to only $25! This is a first-come, first-served opportunity.

Do you want to be involved with PTK but have not met the credits or GPA requirements yet? You can join as a provisional member!

Provisional memberships are available for $25*; however, you can't vote or apply for scholarships until you are a full member.

* Please note the $25 fee will apply towards your life-time dues as a credit if you become a full PTK member.

Being a member of PTK

An active PTK member is a student who participates in most meetings, events or other PTK group activities.

A non-active PTK member is a student who does not participate in meetings, events or other PTK group activities.

Being active has many perks! All it takes is interacting with PTK!

PTK memberships are for life. The only way to loose a membership is if your cummulative academic GPA falls below 3.0.

You can interact as much or as little as you want with Phi Theta Kappa. The best way to look at it is, the more you participate, the more you get out of it!
